Why are we doing this?

We are so honored and excited to help support French Hospital in their efforts to increase the quality and availability of health care in our community, especially their efforts for the Women’s Imaging Center.

Aaron and I became involved in this cause because we believe that early detection is so important in the battle against breast cancer, especially in the form of digital mammography. When my Grandma was 40, she had a double mastectomy as a preventative measure. She was a widow, and had many cysts in her breast tissue. Because that makes it very difficult to detect breast cancer until it’s much too late, she decided that she could not risk leaving her children as orphans. With today’s technology, she would not have had to take such a drastic step.

But it’s not just advanced technology that we support in our efforts; it is also the availability of this technology to all women in our community. We are raising funds so that no woman ever has to skip her mammogram due to cost. We encourage all women, and the men who love them, to utilize and support the resources that we have at French Hospital.

The theme of the calendar is “Because I Love You . . .” and the most important thing that we can do for the women we love is encourage them to get regular mammograms. This is something that affects everyone: our mother, sisters, best friends, wives, aunts, neighbors, teachers, daughters, and all of us who love and depend on them. There is not one of us who would be where we are without the women in our lives.

This calendar wouldn’t have been possible without our fantastic and caring Meathead Mover models. It has been so inspiring to see these young men so eagerly volunteer their time for this cause. Additionally, the San Luis Obispo community never ceases to amaze us with its generosity: we are so grateful to all the businesses that so generously sponsored this calendar. Finally, we must thank French Hospital for the quality of care they provide to this community, and for giving us the opportunity to do our part to help such a wonderful cause.
